Interestingly, we found that despite no differences in body weight, BMI, or fat-mass, carriers of the Met-alleles of the Val66Met polymorphism showed a trend toward greater fat-free mass compared to the homozygous Val (G/G) carriers, while another study in pediatrics showed lower central adiposity as measured by waist circumference among Met-allele carriers ( Xi et al., 2013 ).
