In partial disagreement with what was previously reported, a prospective study for long-term prognosis involving 144 subjects with a triphasic transmitral pattern reported that the septal L’ wave (noted in about half of the subjects) was more prevalent in the cohort of patients who experienced cardiac events; however, this did not reach statistical significance for predicting clinical outcomes ( p = 0.059).
