The Enquiring about Tolerance (EAT) Study enrolled children from the general population in the United Kingdom found a trend toward reduction in allergy, but the difference did not reach statistical significance intention-to-treat (ITT) analyses. 95 In contrast, the Hen’s Egg Allergy Prevention (HEAP) study that included infants from the general population found increased risk of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, in the egg consuming group. 96 In addition, differences in the form of allergenic food (pasteurized raw egg white powder in the HEAP study) may account for the discrepancies between studies.
