To summarise and expand upon some of the discussion points of our previous review, we found little evidence of efficacy for a medication class effect in treating PTSD; although SSRIs as a class showed superiority over placebo, there was a lack of evidence for specific agents such as citalopram and escitalopram, which both showed a trend towards inferiority to placebo.
