As shown in Figure 3a , when the studies were stratified by study design, the subgroup of cross-sectional studies showed a significantly higher MPV (SMD = 0.44, 95% CI = 0.03–0.86, P = 0.038) among women with PCOS, while the difference did not reach statistical significance in case–control studies (SMD = 0.40, 95% CI = ˗0.08–0.89).
