Sex, age and birth cohort effects When stratified by sex, there was no difference in overall risk for male veterans in comparison with male non-veterans, HR 0.98, 95% CI 0.87 to 1.10, p=0.751, but there was an increase in overall risk for female veterans, HR 1.57, 95% CI 0.91 to 2.69, p=0.103, although this did not reach statistical significance.
