Quantitation of the plasma cells and eosinophils confirmed an increase in the CS group with respect to the control group; however, while the plasma cell counts gave a difference that did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.08; data not shown), the eosinophil counts reached significance: control group, 17.25 ± 2.7; CS group, 30.80 ± 4.1*; and CS+RLX group, 19.33 ± 3.1 (* p < 0.05).
