Genome-wide significant variants for systole were each nominally significant ( P < 0.05) for diastole and vice versa ( Supplemental Table 4 ), and LD score correlation (LDSC) confirmed a substantial genetic overlap in the genetic basis of the 2 measurements of mitral annulus diameter, as would be expected in measures derived from the same tissue in the same set of individuals ( P = 8.15 × 10 –83 ) ( Figure 3 ).
