Comorbidities and Illness Severity In multivariable adjusted models, hypertension and atrial fibrillation were significantly associated with increased odds of acute ischemic stroke/TIA (model 4: OR, 2.15 [1.39–3.30] and 1.98 [1.29–3.06], respectively), and history of CVD also showed a trend toward positive association (model 4: 1.39 [0.98–1.97]; Figure 3 ; Table II in the Supplemental Material ).
