A significant trend was observed in two UK studies, reporting an annual increase of 5% between 1998 and 2010 [ 6 ] and of 78% in 2012 compared with the year 2000 [ 11 ]; in Spain [ 12 ], the incidence significantly increased from 3.82 per 100,000 in 2004 to 6.98 in 2013; in Sweden, the incidence of IPF ranged from 10.4 to 15.4 cases per 100,000 population per year between 2001 and 2015 [ 22 ].
