Lower PAPi (<1.3) was identified as a significant risk factor for hemolysis with an unadjusted odds ratio of 6.222 (95% confidence interval 1.630–23.758, p = 0.0049) and an odds ratio of 11.654 (95% confidence interval 1.580–85.982, p = 0.017) adjusted for serum creatinine kinase levels (>150 IU/L), which was also significant in the univariable analyses, and concomitant use of ECMO, which carries a potential risk of hemolysis [ 7 ] but did not reach statistical significance in the univariable analysis ( Table 4 ).
