However, when we examined subscales of HR-QoL, mental health showed the same interaction effect (p = 0.001), and social function also showed the same patterns of improvements as the MCS while the interaction effects did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.087), highlighting that the changes in mental component of HR-QoL are simultaneously influenced by fat mass and muscle mass.
