A significant trend in the nitrides’ hardness was observed by us in the binary system AlN-GaN with the formation of the novel nanoceramics Al 0.5 Ga 0.5 N—the nanoceramics made of pure solid solution were shown to have a rather low H V of 3.8 GPa, and another made mostly of Al 0.5 Ga 0.5 N was shown to have a bit higher, but still low, H V of 7.7 GPa [ 11 ].
