The highly significant networks, represented in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 modules which we presented in more detail in this study, capture many of these pathophysiological aspects of ALS biology, in particular oxidative stress and proteostasis, but also other plausible biological mechanisms with less research focus such as lipid metabolism (module 93) and neuron specific functions such as neurotransmission and synapse (module 128).
