A second assay to evaluate the presence of damaged, oxidized albumin similarly showed a trend to improvement in nonoxidized human mercaptalbumin (HMA) at day 5 in both groups in a small number of samples, but numbers were insufficient to detect a statistically significant difference (see Supplementary Figure 2d, http://links.lww.com/CTG/A783 ).
