Although analysis of stroke index did not reach statistical significance in the two–way ANOVA ( p = 0.089), the indicated reduced stroke index after exercise training (post-hoc analysis; p = 0.035) may be of physiological relevance (effect of treatment F 1,18 = 0.914, p = 0.354; effect of intervention F 1,18 = 6.465, p = 0.023; interaction F 3,18 = 0.940, p = 0.348).
