Even so, the highly significant correlation between absolute change in vertebral strength and absolute change in either vBMD ( R 2 = 0.56–0.67 for the two treatments) or BMC ( R 2 = 0.52–0.76) indicates that an appreciable portion of the change in vertebral strength can be directly attributed to the underlying changes in vBMD and BMC.
