The proportion of women authors was higher only in immunology than in microbiology, a balanced ratio was also achieved in genetics, toxicology, and cell biology; in medicine, biotechnology, biology, multidisciplinary, biochemistry, biophysics, and zoology (also with a negative trend for 2022), women were underrepresented as overall authors ( Table S2 ).
