Combined supplementation of all components, but not individual ingredients independently, resulted in increased contact hypersensitivity responsiveness (measured by the level of ear swelling after hapten challenge with oxazolone solution topical applied to ear pinnae), decreased total n-6 content in cell membranes of splenocytes, reduced plasma levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-α, and PGE 2 ), and a strong trend towards improved immune response was observed [ 141 ].
