The relative frequency of NK cells expressing CD57, a marker for terminal differentiation, was slightly higher in HIV-1 + individuals (36.7%) compared to the HIV-1 - control group (31.5%) but did not reach statistical significance after adjustment for age and sex (p = 0.2).
