We further tested the statistical association between sleep duration levels (<7 h, 7–8 h, >8 h) and risk of diabetes mellitus and pre‐diabetes mellitus in our subjects and found, as shown in Table S2 , the effect of excessive sleep (>8 h) did not reach statistical significance ( P > 0.05), which could be related to the large variance in a small sub‐sample.
