Although some felt that their carers had benefited from accessing information and support from services or carer support groups, others believed the psychoeducation provided was irrelevant to their own situation (particularly after multiple admissions or because of a severe and enduring form of eating disorder). ‘I think the effect on family is quite significant ... there was a parent support network at the hospital that I was in for in-patients, and they said that was quite helpful’ (Patient 1).
