Poly (I:C) may have indirectly activated STAT3 signaling and switched on the IL6 amplifier, leading to the further activation of IL6 release While we observed background Tyr-705 phosphorylated STAT3 (p-STAT3) in untreated cells [(-)-WD-(-)], the activation of STAT3 in MRC-5 lung fibroblasts treated with PolyIC–WD–TNF showed a trend which was slightly higher than that of cells treated with (-)-WD–TNF at all the time points examined.
