Although previous TMS studies have reported no or only near-significant increases in amygdala volumes in adults with MDD ( Furtado et al., 2013 ; Hayasaka et al., 2017 ) and TRD ( Dalhuisen et al., 2021 ), smaller pretreatment right amygdala volume has been associated with greater improvement in depressive symptoms with TMS treatment ( Furtado et al., 2013 ).
