In a later analysis, cabozantinib improved outcomes in those with baseline alpha fetoprotein (AFP) ≥400 ng/mL significantly with median OS of 8.5 months compared with placebo at 5.2 months (HR 0.71; 95% CI 0.54–0.94); while for those with baseline AFP < 400 ng/mL, cabozantinib still showed a trend of a longer median OS to 13.9 months comparing with 10.3 months for placebo, but statistically it did not reach significance (HR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.62–1.04).
