The main findings of the analyses were that: (1) ICB complicated 2.6% of patients after CABG with an incidence rate of 4.0 cases per 1,000 person-years at a median of 6.0 years of follow-up; (2) ICB risk was the highest during the early postoperative period, and increased monotonically with a low incidence rate during the late period; (3) clinical risk factors were associated with the risk of ICB, whereas pharmacologic risk factors did not reach statistical significance; and (4) ICB was strongly associated with subsequent mortality, regardless of the timing of its occurrence after CABG.
