Body weight did not differ between WT and KO animals at either the start or end of the experiment, but α-DB KO mice showed a trend towards greater weight gain over time than WT animals, which may reflect altered endogenous metabolism that has been reported in DMD and may contribute to the higher prevalence of obesity observed in adolescence [ 40 , 41 ].
