Meanwhile, another meta-analysis, which included 9 RCTs conducted in elective surgery settings (7 cardiac surgeries and 2 liver surgeries), observed that plasma transfusion, platelet transfusion, operating room LOS, ICU LOS, and bleeding rate were reduced with TEG-guided transfusion when compared to controls; RBCs transfusion had a declining tendency in the TEG group, but did not reach statistical significance; however, mortality was comparable between the TEG and control groups [ 33 ].
