(2015 ) employed MPEG-PLGA (methoxypolyethyleneglycol polylactic-co-glycolic acid) scaffold seeded with autologous muscle fiber fragments (MFFs) to treat a rat abdominal wall defect model; the results demonstrated that MPEG-PLGA scaffold is a safe carrier for MFFs, and MFFs affect the regenerative repair process, but the MPEG-PLGA+MFF group showed a trend toward higher stiffness in the physiologically more important low stiffness zone, which is not ideal from a clinical point of view.
