The data suggested an increased risk for AGE in asthmatic divers, with an odds ratio of 1.58 for all asthmatics and 1.98 for current asthmatics, but the confidence intervals were large and the data did not reach statistical significance suggesting that if there is an increased risk for AGE in asthmatic divers the risk is small and larger controlled studies are needed [ 27 ].
