Not knowing husbands’ fertility preferences was also associated with increased odds of using covertly, compared to perceiving that husbands wanted the same or fewer children in all countries except Zambia, with ORs ranging from 2.21 (95 percent CI 1.24–3.92) in Ethiopia to 3.96 (95 percent CI 2.28–6.86) in Kenya, although the associations were only marginally significant (p < 0.10) in Nigeria and Mali.
