In a nationwide Danish study comparing the effectiveness and safety of reduced-dose non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants and warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation, a reduced dose of apixaban was associated with a trend toward higher rates of ischemic stroke/systemic embolism compared to warfarin, while a reduced dose of rivaroxaban and dabigatran showed a trend towards lower thromboembolic rates.
