Interestingly, the double mutants S383A/S389E and S383E/S389E showed significant neurite growth inhibition compared to the wild-type and other combinations containing the S389A mutation, both of which showed a trend towards growth promotion that was not statistically significantly different from the wild-type construct (Fig. 3 E and F).
