Additionally, there is a clear trend when recreating the bone and calcified cartilage of these osteochondral constructs, where a ceramic-based component, such as hydroxyapatite, TCP (tricalcium phosphate), or CPC (calcium phosphate cement), is chosen to facilitate osteogenesis. ~15% of the reviewed papers used one or more of these ceramic components when recreating the bone.
