Although this effect did not reach statistical significance in the GLMM ( p = 0.09), time elapsed had a substantial compounding effect; for example, if more than five days elapsed from deposit to collection, the probability that a scat sample was successfully genotyped dropped by approximately 24% on average ( Fig 4A ; Fisher’s Exact Test odds ratio = 2.6, p = 0.04).
