Conclusions In conclusion, the results of the meta-analysis showed that the dietary intake of alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, and total carotenoid intake help in reducing the risk of depressive symptoms, but the levels of beta-cryptoxanthin did not reach statistical significance.
