Although not specifically included in the diffusion matrix, but related to perceived clinical need and urgency, underlying disease severity of the patient also appeared to play a role; for example, administration of hydroxychloroquine was highest among ICU patients and lowest among outpatients with a clear trend toward more use in higher-acuity patients.
