The substitution of fluoride in the lattice is characterized by a contraction of the a lattice parameter, as electronegative fluoride are expected to interact with surrounding calcium ions and occupy a position at their center, slightly offset from the position of native hydroxyl ions [ 25 , 38 , 39 , 40 ], while the evolution of the c length does not follow a clear trend.
