In our population, patients who developed IVAC/PVAP presented with low GCS at ICU admission (although the difference did not reach statistical significance), suggesting that microaspiration and/or the need for deep sedation to control intracranial pressure might play a role in the pathophysiology of pulmonary infectious complications.
