A previous meta-analysis showed a trend toward improved overall survival with either adjuvant chemotherapy or neoadjuvant chemotherapy, with combined peri-operative pooled odds-ratio (OR) of 0.75 (95% CI: 0.57–0.99, p = 0.05) for overall survival; for adjuvant chemotherapy, a cancer-specific survival OR of 0.69 (95% CI: 0.42–1.15, p = 0.16) and disease-free survival OR of 0.54 (95% CI: 0.32–0.92, p = 0.02) were obtained [ 20 ].
