Additionally, in one study comparing patients hospitalized with avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) and AN (subtype not specified), there were more than double the electrolyte abnormalities in the ARFID group compared to AN, though this finding did not reach statistical significance; nevertheless electrolyte abnormalities may be problematic in this population as well [ 27 ].
