The mean ingestion rates follow an expected trend with low ingestion rates associated with infants (who are largely shielded from soil and dust), the highest ingestion rates associated with toddlers, and a gradual tapering off in older aged children, for whom hand-to-mouth behavior is expected to decrease.

The increasing trend of results of Narrative Functions, from LuDiCa (when chapters 5 and 6 are disregarded), was an expected trend, as narrative comprehension increases with reader proficiency ( Rogoski, 2024 ).
This pan-cancer parsing of the most frequently mutated genes in each cancer revealed an expected trend: TP53 was the most mutated gene followed by several other cell cycle regulators ( Figure 1 A).
The electrical conductivity of the nanofluids increased proportionally with the concentration of charged nanoparticles (see Supporting Information, Figure S4 ), following an expected trend consistent with Maxwell’s model that describes the electrical conductivity of suspensions containing charged nanoparticles. , This consistency supports the reliability of the electrical conductivity measurements obtained for EV-based nanofluids in this study.
This corroborates what was observed in the electron density and may be an expected trend, given that the electrostatic potential is obtained from this property (Equation 11 ).
In some designs, such as interventions, or some observational studies with an expected trend over time [e.g. gut microbiome changes over the first years of a baby’s life ( Bokulich et al. 2018 )], changes are expected to be compared to a baseline value, so Δs can be calculated using baseline as a reference ( Ferrocino et al. 2018 , Frey et al. 2022 ).
Nationally, over 50% of speakers and participants were represented by institutions from the Eastern and Southern United States, an expected trend given Puerto Rico's geographic proximity to the East Coast, which facilitates strong and long-lasting research collaborations.
The results relating to age‐related bone loss follow an expected trend of a steady decline in cortical thickness from the younger to older adult age groups.
The results reveal an expected trend in which cells with a greater number of expressed genes typically display higher cumulative weights for the corresponding phenotype ( Fig 4B ).
Analysis of the pooled dataset underpinning the IRST revealed that, whilst not reaching statistical significance, an expected trend towards increased rates of RSVH with lower wGA at birth (Table S2 ) was present; hence, arose the rationale for exploring whether wGA had the discriminatory power to be a substitute for chronological age in relation to the RSV season start date in a Colombian version of the IRST.
When considered together, the adult and older adult groups displayed an expected trend of gradually accelerating hippocampal atrophy from the youngest adults (Figs. 4 A and 5A ) to the oldest octogenarians (Figs. 4 B, E and 5 B, E ).
Table S2 summarizes the lifetime results of all the samples presented in Figure S18 , showing an expected trend in the first synthesis route, as the plate thickness decreases (solvent-to-antisolvent increases in this case), the quantum confinement increases, and the lifetime shortens.
The RMSD plot showed a rapid increase within the first 10 ns, stabilizing around 0.6 nm, which reflects rapid equilibration of the protein backbone in the solvent environment—an expected trend in well-equilibrated molecular systems ( Geisbrecht et al., 2002 ; Hollingsworth and Dror, 2018 ).
An expected trend was observed in the red PPG signal for the median end-datum difference, which increased with stiffness, indicating a sharper signal 19 .
Given the increase in use of SP schemes in the UK over this time, this is an expected trend. 4.3 Strengths and limitations This preliminary study is limited by the small sample size, though this was adequate to show proof of concept of the value of a brief educational video intervention on knowledge of SP.
Analysis of progression-free survival showed an expected trend toward improved outcomes in patients with a favorable pathological response (TRG0–2); however, the differences did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.108).
These carbon monoxide stretching frequencies display an expected trend that inversely correlates to the σ-donating abilities of the terminal phosphine ligands, L .
All this indicates the actual regional climatic trend is towards a mean annual temperature increase (IPMA, 2025 ) and, considering the observed positive significant relationship between infection prevalence and ambient temperature, would suggest an expected trend of increasing infection prevalence, with 2021 possibly corresponding to an isolated, out-of-trend drop due to its very low positive anomaly (IPMA, 2025).
Figure 4 shows a moving average control chart for cancer waiting times, with an expected trend and confidence intervals, based on the first year and a half, and with later observations moving strongly outside the projection.
Therefore, the establishment of combination therapy for COPD with long-acting bronchodilators is an expected trend.
Because the distinction between RP, NP, and SP was determined based on progressive CD4 changes, individual CD4 slopes were dispersed in a continuum distribution where the difference between adjacent groups would not be significant but there would be an expected trend that produces significant differences between the extreme groups (RPs and SPs).
A comparison of results under models 4 and 5 showed an expected trend.
Additionally, use of tests follows an expected trend with age with older people being more likely to receive these services.
There is an expected trend – with far fewer predictions being made that transcend six or more databases than those that are present in just one database.
Fold changes for the high-throughput sequencing and quantitative PCR were log transformed and plotted with an expected trend line ( Figure S1 ).
