Histopathological studies showed in the three groups of mice similar evidence of damage in the tubules and some had interstitial infiltrates and crescents, as expected for this lupus model [ 58 ]; mice in the prevention group showed a trend of higher scores of glomerular crescents and interstitial infiltrate, and morphological signs of necrosis and tubular accumulation of proteinaceous material, compatible with the elevated proteinuria ( Fig. 4B ).
