In the phase IIB LUX-Lung 7 trial, Afatinib demonstrated superior progression-free survival (PFS) compared to first-generation Gefitinib in the first-line treatment of advanced NSCLC with EGFR mutations, along with a slight trend toward improved overall survival (OS) [ 15 , 16 ].
The sequential use of Afatinib followed by Osimertinib showed a trend toward improved OS, highlighting the importance of rebiopsy for identifying T790M mutations to guide subsequent therapy.
