It is worth noting that although the reduction in 12-month mortality rate with PE in this study did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.051), we observed a strong trend that the mortality rate in the PE group was lower than that in the non-PE group, this trend is consistent with the findings of some previous studies, for example, a meta-analysis of ANCA-associated vasculitis patients, which included 9 trials and 387 patients, showed that the use of PE was associated with a positive signal of reduced mortality [ 27 ].
