While patients fulfilling only 1, 2, or 3 criteria had very low survival and good neurological outcome, patients fulfilling the 4 criteria had a 48% hospital survival, with a good neurological outcome of 30%, a highly significant difference compared to 1, 2, or 3 criteria ( p < 0.001).
In comparison to all other patients, they showed a trend for better hospital survival (16.2 vs. 5.2%, p = 0.061), but no significant improvement in good neurological outcome (8.2 vs. 2.6%, p = 0.179).
As shown in Additional File 3 , patients with a low flow < 60 min had better survival and good neurological outcome than those with a low flow of 60–80 min, but the difference did not reach statistical significance (survival, p = 0.068; CPC 1–2, p = 0.279).
