A trend towards the lower mortality risk was observed for patients treated in facilities having higher median Hb levels, although this overall relationship did not reach statistical significance in the fully adjusted Cox models (RR = 0.91 per 1 g/dl higher facility median Hb concentration, P = 0.24).
