The consecutive group data in one study showed a trend toward a higher adenoma detection rate (ADR) in the water-method group.[ 28 ] With a large number of patients whose data were stored in an endoscopic database at the Sacramento VAMC, from 2000 to 2006 (air method) and 2006 to 2009 (water method), a significantly higher ADR in the water group was revealed.[ 31 ] When we assessed the pooled data in the two proof-of-concept RCTs,[ 29 30 ] we found a significantly higher diminutive ADR in the proximal colon.[ 32 ] A third quasi RCT was recently completed at a third site.
