The sentences
This is an important trend as many of the incomplete abortions were likely attempts to unsafely terminate a pregnancy, thus the downward trend suggests that abortion is becoming safer among this particular population. 9 MA was nearly non-existent in 2008, but increased steadily, representing 80% of total procedures in 2012.
Changes in proportions between years were highly significant up until 2010 and slightly less significant from 2010 to 2011 ( table 1 ).
