10 In 1995, the Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Collaborative Group (NSCLCCG) published a meta-analysis showing a strong trend in favor of adjuvant cisplatin-based chemotherapy (hazard ratio[HR], 0.87; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.74–1.02; P = 0.08), with an absolute improvement in the 5-year survival rate of 5%.
The positivity of NF-kB (p65) was associated with shorter survival of 9.9 months versus 13 months in patients with negative expression of the same receptor, with only a statistical trend of P = 0.1 (see Table 1 ).
Caucasians had better overall survival in comparison to African Americans with median survival of 14.8 months versus 10.4 months, although this did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.1) as shown in Table 1 .
